Hi, everyone. It’s been just over a week since Los Angeles caught fire and I am slowly making my way back into my body. (My family and I are safe. Many people we know and love have lost their homes and the grief here is palpable and overwhelming and I’m sure I’ll write about it, eventually, I’m just … yeah. Not yet.)
I know there hasn’t been a newsletter in two weeks and everyone probably understands why (thank you for your patience) but I wanted to drop two links to two podcasts about sex (one that dropped yesterday and another that dropped last Tuesday) if you are interested in listening to one or two podcasts about sex.
(By the way it’s totally normal to be turned on by what has felt apocalyptic! VERY NORMAL AND COMMON TO WANT TO FUCK YOUR WAY THROUGH YOUR TRAUMA AND I AM HERE TO VALIDATE YOUR HORNINESS IN THE FACE OF WHAT HAS FELT LIKE THE END OF THE WORLD IN LOS ANGELES!)
It was my absolute HONOR to talk about Babygirl, fidelity and desire with Dan Savage on Savage Love. (Episode dropped yesterday.) Dan read my Babygirl essay and invited me to come on his show and talk about it. Dan is one of my absolute heroes and his validation of my work is one of the highlights of my career. Scott and I were supposed to do a follow up live we later canceled due to the fires but I will be following up here later this month for those who have questions for him/me/both of use because while my focus here is almost always on female sexuality and desire I think we need to start sitting down with men and having the conversations we are having behind their backs… with them, too. Especially when those men are Scott.
