Thank you, Archer. All of these words need be read by all of the people...if so, perhaps cooler heads would help everyone move towards compassion for all affected.
Archer, I needed this right when I found it. Not just your words-- beautifully honest observations of an incredibly complex situation--but you. Here. Renewing my hope that your generation will approach the world with the compassion, empathy, and humanity we need to make it a whole lot better. Thank you.
This was absolutely fantastic, Archer. A much appreciated calm and steady view of the situation, while also...making me want to cry. Like your mom has done in past weeks, I feel you've voiced some of the things many are struggling to find the words for. The cells of your family tree hold many things, and one of those is a gift with words.
Archer: that you can call out the cynicism fueling decades of violence while maintaining a voice of hope is a testament to the magnificent humanist you are. On a personal note, thank you for articulating the conflict we Jewish people are experiencing as we bear witness to the horrors being wrought in our name while also acknowledging our own generational trauma. May we live to see your visions realized.
Side note: I live in MetroWest Boston (Medway); if you *ever* need a home away from home, ours hearts and home are open to you. (We have an 11 year old daughter and a 15 year old son, guitars, and a piano to welcome you, too. :)
It was really interesting to read Archer’s opinion. I really hope you pass this along to him . I enjoyed reading his opinion and think Ben Freeman’s Book Jewish Pride will have a big impact on Archer . Also Allen DershowitzA Case For Israel. Both of these books changed my life in terms for understanding the conflict.. As mom I feel your sense of pride . My hope is people like Archer will save our planet.. thank you for sharing this !!! 💙💙💙
I think the thing that I find most stressful/frightening/maddening/upsetting about all of this is the misinformation and disinformation that is spreading like wildfire.
Words that used to mean something are meaningless suddenly, or mean something else completely.
Do I want peace? Yes, please, very much. But not if it means there is no safe place for us left then.
This is the best commentary on the situation I’ve read. Thank you, Archer and Rebecca. May peace grow and flourish under the olive tree.
Oh, Archer, thank you. Thank you for voicing the precious and confusing nuance of it all!
May you feel safe. May you feel held in deep connection. May you feel protected. May you feel loved. ❤️
